Machu Picchu can be visited all year round, but keep in mind that there are two climatic seasons: dry and rainy. The dry season runs from May to October and is the most advisable, since there is less chance of rain and the skies are usually clear. The rainy season runs from November to April and is the least favorable, as there is more risk of precipitation, fog and landslides. However, it also has its advantages, such as fewer tourists and lower prices.

The climate is variable and depends on altitude and season. In general, you can expect temperatures between 12°C and 24°C during the day and between 4°C and 9°C at night. There is also a possibility of rain throughout the year, especially between November and March.

To enter Machu Picchu you need to have a ticket purchased in advance, as there is a daily limit of visitors (4000) and tickets are not sold at the door. Tickets can be purchased online or at authorized offices in Cusco. It is also necessary to present a valid identity document, such as a passport or ID card. In addition, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather, appropriate footwear for walking, sunscreen, hat, water and snacks.

In Machu Picchu you can tour the citadel and admire its impressive stone constructions, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Three Windows and the House of the Guardian. You can also hire an official guide to explain the history and secrets of the place, or use an audio guide available in several languages. In addition, you can climb one of the two mountains surrounding the citadel: Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, which offer spectacular views from the top, but require booking well in advance and paying an additional cost.
