Palccoyo is a lesser known mountain that features a series of colorful peaks, similar to Rainbow Mountain, but with a much easier hike. Palccoyo is at an altitude of approximately 3,800 meters above sea level and is accessible from Cusco. The hike to Palccoyo is much shorter and less challenging than the hike to Rainbow Mountain, making it a good alternative for visitors who wish to experience the colorful beauty of the Andes Mountains without a strenuous hike.

Palcoyo and Stone Forest Tour.
This is a tourist activity that combines a hike through the beautiful scenery of the stone forest with a visit to the impressive rock formations of Palcoyo. Visitors will enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and the valley, while walking along trails surrounded by cacti and other native plants. In Palcoyo, they will be able to see stone formations of various colors and sizes, some of which resemble castle towers.

- Hotel pickup (4:30 – 5:00 a.m.)
- Travel to the restaurant for breakfast
- Travel to the Palccoyo Mountain Range, stop at Checacupe bridge
- Hike to the Rainbow Mountains and Stone Forest
- Buffet lunch at the restaurant
- Return to Cusco (approx. 6:00 p.m.)
DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1 PALCOYO AND STONE FOREST TOUR
- Our tour begins with the pick up at your hotel from 4:30 to 5am, as agreed, and then head south of Cusco and arrive in 1 hour and a half drive to the restaurant to have a small breakfast, and continue the journey to the valley of Combapata and take the road that leads you to the Cordillera de Palccoyo for a journey of 2 hours with a stop at the colonial bridge of CHECACUPE.
- Our hike starts at the road point or bus station to the colored mountains in a moderate hike of 50 minutes over 4600m high, there we will appreciate different mountain ranges and the stone forest (optional climb) on the same route.
- Then we will return to our transport and a 2 hour trip to the restaurant and have a buffet lunch.
- Then we will be returning to Cusco at approximately 6pm.
