The Humantay Lagoon is a beautiful glacial lake located in the Peruvian Andes, near the town of Soraypampa and the famous Salkantay trekking route. The lake is fed by melting snow and ice from the Humantay mountain, which is part of the Vilcabamba mountain range.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1 HUMANTAY LAGOON
- The tour to the Humantay Lagoon begins at 4:30 am with the pick up from your hotel, we head to the town of Mollepata (2 hours approx).
- In the district of Molletapa we will make a stop to enjoy a nutritious breakfast, we will have some free time to use the restrooms, make purchases of hydrating drinks and snacks. Then we will advance to Soraypampa, which is the starting point for the hike to the Humantay Lagoon.
- Arrival to Soraypampa at 09:00 hrs approx, we will have a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay.
- At the starting point of the hike we will have a brief description of our hike, recommendations from our guide. The hike has a duration of 1 hour and a half approx. Once finished the ascent we will arrive at the magical lagoon impressive for its turquoise color located at the foot of the snowy Humantay, it is there where we will have a detailed explanation of the place and of course free time for photographs.
- It is known according to local tradition that the Apu Humantay, is the youngest son of the Apu Salkantay. And both are in charge of rationalizing and distributing the water that descends from its eternal snows to the many populations that live in its foothills. For this reason, the local population venerates this lagoon as a deity that represents the Pachamama.
- In the surroundings you will observe innumerable apachetas (stones superimposed one on top of the other that are placed in sacred sites) that have been placed as offerings of gratitude to the Pachamama.
- At 12:00 hrs we will return to Soraypampa and board the bus to the town of Mollepata, to enjoy a delicious local lunch.
- At 14:30 hrs we will start the return to Cusco (2:30 hrs. Trip), we will leave you near the main square, so you can take a walk or have dinner in the center of the city.
