For its construction, material was used from the Convent of San Agustin, currently the Marriot Hotel, which was destroyed by cannon fire by order of Marshal Agustin Gamarra.

From this place we will walk down to the Ejército Avenue Bridge that already existed in Inca times being part of the road that linked the capital of the empire with the Contisuyo and in 1934 celebrating the four hundred years of the Spanish founding of the city, the bridge was rebuilt with a neocolonial style.

14.15 hrs We will pass through Hospital Street, where we will see the location of the second of the colonial hospitals built in Cusco called the Hospital de los Naturales. In the San Pedro Market we will stop to learn about the history.

It is unknown when the construction of the building that today is the Archbishop’s Palace of Cusco began.

We will go up the San Blas slope to reach the Plaza of the same name, we walk through the streets of the oldest neighborhood of Cusco. From Tandapata street to San Blas square where we will find the paccha of 40 falls, the Church of San Blas (optional).

We will find one of the best art collections in the city, distributed in stores, galleries and workshops; at the end of the slope just before the square of San Blas, you will find the gallery exhibition and sale of the renowned craftsman from Cusco Hilario Mendivil.

HILARIO MENDIVIL AND FAMILY GALLERY, next to the Plaza San Blas is the exhibition of the renowned artisan Hilario Mendivil and family. This artist was one of the best in terms of traditional imagery; his art, with elongated collars inspired by llamas and alpacas, is unmistakable and recognized worldwide.

It is said that the long necks were used to hide inside rolled canvases that were sent to Europe; although it is only a rumor. His religious works are impregnated with the daily life of the people of Cusco; you can see chicha sellers in religious scenes. Although Hilario Mendivil and his wife have passed away (in 1977 and 1999 respectively), his family continues his legacy and many of them continue to create beautiful works of art.
