DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1: MARAS MORAY RAP
- The MARAS MORAY RAP tour begins with hotel pickup between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. We will then start our journey towards Chinchero, where we will visit an artisan textile center. Here, we will learn about the natural plants and materials used in their ancestral dyeing and weaving techniques.
- We will continue our journey for approximately 40 minutes to Maras. Along the way, we will stop at the Raqchi viewpoint, where we will have the chance to admire the White Mountain Range and the stunning Sacred Valley. In Maras, we will visit the archaeological site of Moray, a place with agricultural terraces that, at first glance, resemble amphitheaters. These concentric terraces were built by the Incas as agricultural laboratories, each with its own microclimate, depending on its depth.
- Our next stop is the Salt Mines, a unique group of over 3,000 salt ponds still in operation. Each pond is situated slightly lower than the previous one, creating a distinctive and almost ethereal landscape.
- We will then board the bus and head to the capital of the Sacred Valley, “Urubamba, the Distinguished City,” where we will enjoy a buffet lunch.
- After lunch, we will visit the Seminario Ceramics workshop, where we will find exhibition rooms filled with art pieces. These handmade pieces are crafted by local artisans who learned the style from the Seminario couple, who created both utilitarian and decorative pottery.
- On our return to Cusco, we will drop you off in the city center, allowing you to enjoy dinner or take a stroll through the Plaza de Armas of Cusco.
