- Barrio de San Blas: This is an artistic neighborhood of Cusco that features cobblestone streets and white houses with red roofs. It is a popular place for artists and artisans, and has workshops and art galleries.
- Sacsayhuaman Ruins: These ruins are an impressive Inca archaeological complex with huge stone walls that appear to have been carved with millimetric precision. It is a place of great historical and cultural importance.
- Mirador de San Cristobal: This is an observation point located on top of a hill, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Cusco and its surroundings. It is a popular place to take pictures and appreciate the natural beauty of the city and its landscapes.
You will also visit places like the Qantupata neighborhood, 7 borreguitos street, Manco Capac Palace, South American Camelids and the 12 angles stone.
What is the best time to do a Walking Tour in Cusco?
The best time to do a Walking Tour in Cusco is during the dry season, which runs from April to October. During this period, the chances of rain are lower and temperatures are warmer and more pleasant for walking. In addition, during the dry season, skies are usually clearer, which means you are more likely to have clear views of the beautiful landscapes of the city and its surroundings.
What is the San Cristóbal viewpoint like?
The Mirador de San Cristobal is one of the most popular places to enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Cusco and its surroundings. It is located in the neighborhood of San Blas, on the hill of San Cristobal, at an altitude of approximately 3,550 meters above sea level.
To reach the viewpoint, you can walk along a cobblestone path that winds up the hill. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the city of Cusco, including the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and nearby churches.
What does the 12 corners stone mean?
The Stone of the 12 Angles is a famous stone found in a wall in the historic center of Cusco. The stone is known for its precision carving and for fitting perfectly with the other stones in the wall.
The Stone of the 12 Angles is considered an impressive example of Inca construction technique and is a symbol of the cultural and historical heritage of the region. It is believed that the stone dates back to the 15th century and was carved during the reign of the Inca emperor Pachacutec.
Is a special permit required to visit Machu Picchu?
To enter Machu Picchu, it is necessary to have an entrance or entrance ticket that can be purchased online or in the city of Cusco.
The entrance fee is included in most Machu Picchu tours, so visitors do not have to worry about getting the entrance ticket on their own. However, if you decide to visit Machu Picchu on your own, you will need to get the entrance ticket in advance to avoid problems. It is important to keep in mind that the daily capacity of visitors is limited, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance, especially during the high-season months.
Is it possible to climb the Huayna Picchu Mountain during the visit to Machu Picchu?
Yes, it is possible to climb the Huayna Picchu Mountain during the visit to Machu Picchu, but a separate entrance ticket is required that must be purchased in advance, since the number of visitors allowed per day is limited and they sell out quickly. The hike is steep and demanding, but the views from the top are breathtaking and worth it. There is also an alternative option of climbing the Machu Picchu mountain, which also requires a separate ticket and offers equally stunning views of the Inca citadel.
Can I bring food and drinks to Machu Picchu?
No food or drinks are allowed to enter Machu Picchu, except water in small bottles and without a lid. There is also a designated area for eating and drinking near the entrance of the archaeological site. It is recommended to bring snacks and enough water for the trek to Machu Picchu, but they should be left before entering the site.
What's Aguas Calientes like?
Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, is a small town located in the valley of the Urubamba River, near Machu Picchu. It is the starting point for most visitors who want to visit Machu Picchu, as it is where the train stations and access to the buses that take visitors to the entrance of Machu Picchu are located.
Aguas Calientes has a vibrant tourist atmosphere and is a fairly small city. There is a wide variety of hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, souvenir shops and travel agencies to cater to visitors. Due to its location in a mountainous area, the city has many stairs and steep streets, but also offers stunning panoramic views of the surroundings.
In addition to serving as a base for visitors to Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes has some tourist attractions of its own, such as the hot springs that give the city its name, a small historical church and some nearby Inca ruins.
