DAY 1 TOUR IN CUSCO – HORSEBACK RIDING IN THE DEVIL’S BALCONY

  • The tour begins with the pick up from your hotel and then we will go in our vehicle to our ranch located on the outskirts of the city near the archaeological center Sacsayhuaman.
  • Our guide will give us the indications about the horses, how to control them, how to react and handle some situations and the necessary equipment to start our activity. We will be introduced to our horses and muleteers who will accompany us to then go to the Temple of the Moon, located in the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman. They are very strange constructions, some caves, a type of altar and rock surfaces that are strongly vitrified.
  • We will also go through the Devil’s Balcony, in each of the above mentioned places we will make stops for our guide to explain in detail each of these places, in the Devil’s Balcony we will go through a natural cave formed thousands of years ago which was used by the Incas as a sacred place.
  • We will take the opportunity to take our snacks and return to the ranch to board the private transportation back to the city, finishing our activity in an average of 04 hours.
  • Finally we will return to the city of Cusco, we will leave you at your hotel or at the Plaza de Armas.

What is the altitude of Cusco?

What is Sacsayhuamán like?

Sacsayhuaman is an Inca fortress located on the hill of the city of Cusco. The construction of this structure dates back to the 15th century, during the reign of the Inca Pachacutec, and is considered one of the greatest architectural works of the Inca culture.

The fortress has three parallel walls, each of which has a height of more than 9 meters. The walls are formed by large blocks of stone perfectly fitted together to create a smooth, seamless surface. The walls together form a zigzag of about 300 meters long and 20 meters wide.

What is the climate like in Cusco?

The climate in Cusco is cool and dry for much of the year, with daytime temperatures ranging between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. However, due to the altitude, Cusco has a wide temperature variation between day and night, with nighttime temperatures that can drop below 5 degrees Celsius.

The climate in Cusco is divided into two main seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season extends from May to October and is considered the best time to visit Cusco due to its sunny and dry climate.
