With the Machu Picchu Full Day Local Train, you will visit the Peruvian Historical Sanctuary and World Heritage Site known as the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Declared as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world in a ceremony held in Lisbon (Portugal), which was attended by one hundred million voters worldwide.

MACHUPICCHU, ancient Andean Inca settlement, located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru, in the Andes mountain range at 2,430 meters above sea level; it is located in the Cusco region, province of Urubamba, district of Machupicchu. Machu Picchu would have been one of the resting places of Pachacutec, ninth Inca of the Tahuantinsuyo between 1438 and 1470.

THE LOCAL TRAIN, is a special service provided by the company Peru Rail only, for the citizens of Peru and the people who live in the region of Machu Picchu. This service also includes Peruvian citizens. However, preference is given to the inhabitants of the region. The local train is exclusively for Peruvian tourists. People who have a Foreigner’s Identity Card with permanent residence in Peru can also access this benefit. Peruvian citizens must purchase their local train ticket in person days in advance. This service departs from the city of Cusco to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).

The local train cannot be purchased online, so you will have to go to the points of sale located in:

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Full Day Machu Picchu Local Train

Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco.

  • We will pick you up from your hotel 2h 30 min. before. We will go to Ollantaytambo to board the local train at 05.05 hrs to Machu Picchu (1h 40 min.).
  • Arrival to the train station. We board the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes, travel time 1h 40 min.
  • Arrival to the town of Machupicchu, our guide will be waiting at the station to coordinate the visit of the citadel. At the time agreed with the guide we will take the 30 minute bus to the sanctuary of Machupicchu.
  • We present our Machupicchu tickets and enter to start the visit. The guide will be waiting for us at the door to direct you to Machupicchu and have a guided tour of 2 h 30 min. Booking this Full Day Machu Picchu we can know the most important archaeological center of South America and all its different tourist attractions.
  • Additionally we can climb the mountain of Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu mountain (without guide) adding to the budget 15 dollars, if you decide to climb these mountains you need to verify the availability of income minimum 4 months before the trip.
  • After the visit, we will take the bus back to the village. Time for lunch (not included). Then calculating the time you can visit the handicraft market of Machupicchu.
  • Do not forget to be at the train station 30 min. before departure, we will board the local train (not included). Travel time 1h 40 min. Arrival to Ollantaytambo station and transfer to Cusco Hotel (1h 40 min). Our transportation will be attentive upon arrival to transfer us to the hotel in Cusco.

NOTE: The purchase of the local train ticket is done personally and well in advance, we suggest you buy it as soon as you arrive in Cusco.
